From Hands to Head: The Story of VAGOBEANIE, A Wearable Slow Fashion and Slow Living Statement
Last summer began a chapter rooted in change. A beginning—a pivotal moment in my life when I chose to walk away from a job that no longer aligned with my values. It was a season of radical change, where I started to pursue everything I had always dreamed of learning. One of these dreams was to create with my hands—to crochet and sew, letting my own creative self swim to the surface. And so began the journey of VAGOBEANIE.
Who or What is VAGOBEANIE?
VAGOBEANIE is more than a wearable accessory—it’s a story, a lifestyle, a mission.
The name is a blend of our floating home, VAGO, and the cozy item that started it all: a beanie.
Our handcrafted beanies promote the values of slow fashion, sustainable production, and intentional living. Each VAGOBEANIE is lovingly crocheted to carry the spirit of the sea, the wind, and the joy of creating something meaningful.
From Passion Project to Purpose
After learning to crochet, I started making simple items like tops and phone cases. But the real spark came after returning home from Greece, when I created my first VAGOBEANIE—ERELI and later on the VAGOBEANIE—STEFU for Stefan.
Realizing how happy I was seeing my closest friends wearing and appreciating its value, I decided to make these sustainable beanies for family and friends.
Crocheting every night, I infused each piece with care, intention, and the essence of slow fashion.
